As the show starts, Alton Brown arrives with a briefcase filled the $100,000, which he divides equally among the four contestants. During the three rounds of cooking, one chef is eliminated. The chefs use the money to bid on certain items during the auction segment. They can use the items for their own dishes or give it to one of the competitors in an effort to thwart their menu.
